We left the Stockton, CA area and went back to Bakersfield for a stop and rest. Stayed two nights at the Kern River Campground, It was a well kept and beautiful little camp site. We had no hookups, so we were running self contained. Got to find out how much fuel the generator uses running about 10 hours. We used a little over a half a gallon an hour using two computers, charging 4 devices, 4K TV streaming YouTube TV, Fridge on AC, electric fireplace and hot water heater (no AC though). So 10 hours should use about 6.5 gallons. With Mo's 65 gallon fuel tank, if we arrive with 3/4 of the tank, we should be able to be self contained for 6 days if we wanted. Longer if we are sparingly on the generator. We'll see how this changes when we start using the AC's.
We then traveled to Las Vegas to visit our youngest son, Nicholas Koudelis and his family. I didn't take any picture of our campsite while there, because it was more of a parking lot than a camp site, at least to me. It was a KOA, it had a nice pool and hot tube. We spent out time visiting with family and figuring out what was where and re-arranging all the stuff we have.
Elizabeth used the laundry to help catch us up and it was clean and everything worked fine. We found out how much our little washer\dryer combo could do. Which is about two pairs of jeans and then take about two hours. So it works about how we thought. Nice to for small things like towels or something you need the next day, but if you used it for full time washing you likely will never catch up.
On the way to our next stop and stay, at Burro Creek Campground we stopped for lunch and a stretch. We had boondocked in this area with Tinman the Teardrop a few years back. There is suppose to be a hot springs not far from this campground. When I pulled into the campsite, I wasn't 100% sure I would get it out. Very sandy wet ground doesn't like large rigs like Mo. Gentle coaching, slowly we pulled in and out of the campground and parked to the side of the entrance (on pavement).Had lunch and walked over to the bridge. The last time we were here there was just a little water in the creek. Now the water was way up and flowing quickly. So likely the hot springs was under water and there was no way to get to it from here.
After this stop we will have a long haul heading to Kansas City to see Barbara Duty and family, with a short stop and stay in Wichita to see friends. So next posting could be two weeks.
Have a great day from
Martin, Elizabeth, Hume, Penelope, Mo and Jelly.
Remember if you want to have fun, only you can make it.
